A leading center in assistance, research, teaching and innovation

Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, with more than 60 years of history and located in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona, is made up of 22 buildings where 9,000 professionals work to care for 1,2000,000 patients a year.

It is a world reference health park where assistance, research, teaching and innovation work together to provide the best service and patient care. The Campus is the sum of four entities: the Vall d’Hebron University Hospital (with its four specialized centers; the General, the Children’s, the Women’s and the Traumatology, Rehabilitation and Burns), the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute, the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology and the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia.

Signes was awarded the public tender to carry out the wayfinding project and the manufacture and installation of the exterior signage. The Concept Design was developed taking into account the Campus Corporate Identity manual. The flows and circulations were studied to define the different typologies of the signs and work was done on the graphic and industrial design, creating a numerical and chromatic code to facilitate the identification and services of the different buildings that make up the Campus.

The signage consists mainly of three types of signs: pedestrian directional signs, made with aluminum poles and several slats that indicate the various paths that direct patients to their destination building; illuminated directional signs for vehicles, which clearly indicate the route they can follow with special indications to easily reach the various emergency units in different buildings on campus; and positional identification signs located at the entrances of all buildings, in which their clear numbering and chromatic solution help to make them easy to see and not to get lost.
