A state-of-the-art health center

The real origins of the Hospital de Reus are little known, it is only known that it already existed in the year 1244 according to the writings of the doctor in history Pere Anguera. After subsequent extensions, new locations and structural renovations, it was in 1985 when it became a reference hospital in the Region.

The new University Hospital Sant Joan de Reus is the largest investment (€ 120 million) made in the city of Reus. Its construction lasted four years and was inaugurated at the end of 2010. It has 352 beds distributed over 7 floors.

The hospital provides quality health care with excellent health services and employs more than 1,000 people.

Signes won the project to study the needs and design of the hospital signage. Organising the signage of this dimension of almost 100,000 m2 was not an easy task. For this, innumerable surveys were made on site to understand the complicated network composed of accesses, corridors, floors, parking and different buildings. All the information is collected in a huge panel that is in the main hall that as a general directory vertically arranges information with 6 colour codes. Elevator sets identified with large perpendicular banners –the area is huge– organise the accesses in a visible and orderly manner. The signage is complemented by a versatile modular system through directional, positional signs, pictograms and window markings.
