One of the largest shopping centers in Europe

Puerto Venecia is positioned as an exclusive shopping resort. Located on the outskirts of Zaragoza, in the Pinares de Venecia, an area of recent expansion in the city. It is very well connected by the Z-30 and Z-40 highways, and is currently the largest, most innovative and spectacular shopping center in Spain and one of the largest in Europe.

The architectural project was designed by L35 Arquitectos, an international firm of renowned professionals with offices in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and Casablanca and with extensive experience in retail.

Signes won the tender for the initial phase of the “Needs study and signage design” project. This first phase was developed in 2011 under the supervision of the Leonard Design team of designers and interior designers from London.

As the project was particularly large, our proposal focused on arranging the different existing areas: restaurants, fashion, leisure and retail park, giving each unit a distinct chromatic code.

Signage should cover all areas (access, exterior, interior, parking and emergency). Once the flow and circulation study was completed, 45 different types of signs were designed to solve all the project’s signage and communication needs.

In 2012 we had the confidence of the client to carry out the “Manufacture and assembly of the signage”. A large part of the elements were based on 10 mm thick stainless steel sheets, curved to simulate leaves embedded in the pavement, forming totems that emerge from the ground without visible anchors. In the main traffic circle, a Corten steel structure was built that plays with the same shapes as the totems.

Puerto Venecia was inaugurated in October 2012.
