Remodelling a large retail park

Megapark Barakaldo is the largest retail park in Northern Spain. It was opened in 2004, but after several years in operation it suffered various signage problems that typically build up over time: some signs were obsolete, while the quality of some was inadequate, presenting it in a poor state of repair.

All of this reflected on the centre’s image, and so for this reason, the park’s management entrusted Signes with the task of updating and improving the signage. We carried out a wayfinding project as well as the subsequent manufacture and implementation of all necessary labelling.

After an exhaustive initial report, which highlighted the existing issues, Megapark opted for a new signage design with a brief to implement it as soon as possible.

Signes' experience was key to providing solutions tailored to the client's budget. Much of the existing signage was discarded, with new signs introduced at strategic points in the shopping areas, such as access to parking and the locations of the various brands that can be found at Megapark. Finally, for the centre to be visible from the road, a sign measuring 40 metres in length was installed on its facade. With these steps we were able to update the centre’s image and improve the overall experience of its visitors.
