Hotel Monument - monumental

This monumental modernist building from 1895 was remodelled into a 5-star luxury hotel in 2016, drafted by the expert hand of Óscar Tusquets and the impressive interior design of Merçè Borrell.

The end result of this bold approach is a wonderfully sophisticated, contemporary urban space. There is a three Michelin star restaurant, Lasarte, below ground level, whilst all eighty-four rooms have the ‘panot Gaudi’ design incorporated onto the floor, creating an overall result that is astonishingly unique.

The challenge of planning and tailoring signage for such a unique and remarkable building consisted of integrating all the indoor signage elements with the interior design, furniture and walls, in order to communicate the necessary information to the guests in the most discreet and minimalist way possible. Markers, directories, positional and directional pictograms and location maps have all been manufactured in line with the building’s materials and finishes, allowing them to seamlessly blend into the stunning interior design.
