Inaugurated in 2017, the current Riyadh Air Metropolitano (formerly known as Wanda Metropolitano) is one of the most modern stadiums in Europe and home to Club Atlético de Madrid. Its imposing architecture and large capacity make it a landmark venue, but also posed, from the outset, certain exterior orientation challenges.

Despite its recent construction, the stadium was lacking in exterior pedestrian navigation, making it difficult for spectators to easily locate entrances, areas of interest such as the official store or the museum/tour, located in less visible areas.
With the aim of improving the experience of members, visitors and fans, Atlético de Madrid entrusted Signes with the development of a complete outdoor wayfinding project.

Design challenges and solutions
One of the main challenges of the project was to design a signage system that would integrate with the flexibility of the outdoor space, where events, activities or temporary installations are regularly held. The signage should not be an obstacle, but rather facilitate coexistence with these multiple uses.

The design was structured around three main axes:
- Visibility and graphic arrangement
The signage had to represent a large amount of content in a clear, structured and hierarchical manner, facilitating rapid reading even at times of high traffic.
- Identity and contrast
We worked to maintain consistency with the visual identity of the club, but ensuring the necessary contrast to ensure the immediate visibility and understanding of the message, even in scenarios of high concentration of people.
- Mobile and versatile supports
Fully mobile and reconfigurable elements were designed, capable of being easily removed or adapted to free up large open spaces in which unique events could be organized without visual or physical interference.
