The remodelling of the Princess

The former Princesa Sofía Hotel was one of the most emblematic hotels of Barcelona. Located at the entrance of Barcelona on the Diagonal, it is known in the sector of being the "father of modern hotels in Barcelona". For many years it has been the largest hotel in the city and in the 70s an unmissable event for the elites of the metropolis. The now renowned Sofia Hotel has been remodelled and modernized by its current owners Selena Group.

With 465 rooms it is no longer the largest in Barcelona, but it is still a modern hotel with a spectacular design, decorated with natural materials; wood and stone and minimalist furniture. The strategy and design of the new brand has been the work of the prestigious local company Morillas Branding Design.

Our company has been chosen to solve the signage of the new spaces and the identification of the building, carrying out the project and manufacturing. Signes did the study of needs and industrial design of all the signage of the new hotel. To identify the entrance, huge luminous letters were designed at street level, which serve as an exquisite claim and allow all passers to locate the access to the hotel. A large diagonal luminous strip -like the name of the popular street- crosses the entire façade, enhancing the architecture of the tower.

The manufacture of the directories, positional, directional signs, numbers of bright rooms, restaurant identification and innovative emergency signage have been produced by Signes. The result of these nine months of work were very rewarding and Sofía has become one of our favourite projects of 2018.
