Baqueira Beret or how to get lost in the snow

The municipality of Naut Aran, to which the Baqueira Beret ski resort belongs, had a problem in 2011: casual skiers approaching the valley had problems finding their way around in the Baqueira 1500 area. Owing to the complex architecture there, the act of finding apartment buildings, hotels, restaurants, shops and cafes is often genuinely puzzling.

Our Wayfinding department carried out the requirement analysis for the area, organising the information to be displayed and placing the units in problem areas to remove uncertainty.

The signage project ranked the destinations in order: firstly the most relevant and permanent ones that do not change according to season (public squares, common areas, parking, lockers, medical centre, pharmacy, etc.). The second level encompassed hotels and apartment buildings that have a greater flow of users. A flexible system was designed to make changes with greater ease for the third and final level of shops and restaurants.

The materials and finishes used for the fixtures stand up to the rigours of the weather in the area.

Signes also undertook the manufacture and installation of all of the signage elements.
